Swieradowiec (about 1,036 meters above sea level) is a place full of memories for the local community – in the 1980s the longest ski lift in Poland operated here, where many people took their first skiing steps. After being deactivated for many years, the slope was absorbed by the surrounding forest. The idea to reactivate it appeared while former mayor Roland Marciniak was still in office, and ambitious plans to rebuild the ski infrastructure at Ĺšwieradowiec were presented in 2022.
In June 2025, the municipality of Swieradow-Zdroj received permission to build a winter attraction on Swieradowiec. However, the road to this was bumpy – some of the land plots necessary for the investment belonged to private owners, who originally withdrew their consents to dispose of the land. In addition, the Swieradowiec site lies in a Natura 2000 protection area and is an ecological corridor – which raises additional environmental requirements related to nature protection. However, after months of negotiations, agreements were reached that allowed the formal green light to be given.
The planned investment calls for the construction of a new ski station with a 750-meter-long gondola railroad, two 4-person chairlifts, more than 2.5 kilometers of ski slopes, a snowmaking system with about 30 cannons, and full lighting of the ski slopes. The estimated cost of the investment is between 40 and 60 million zlotys. Construction of the investment has been divided into three stages: modernization of the existing lifts, construction of a gondola railroad and a snowmaking system. Currently, the municipality is actively looking for an investor who will implement the above-mentioned assumptions.
The investment is an excellent opportunity for the city, as well as for tourists and local businesses. The new ski infrastructure will relieve traffic around the existing gondola lift, expand the winter and year-round offerings, and strengthen the town’s tourism potential – especially in the context of the growing number of apartments, guesthouses and services in the area. It’s also a real opportunity for economic development, jobs and the promotion of Swieradow-Zdroj as a comprehensive mountain resort. This is, of course, great news for the customers of Izerski Resort, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the planned ski lift, which will probably translate into additional apartment occupancy and increase their investment potential.
ĹšwieradĂłw-ZdrĂłj, so far known primarily for its unique spa climate and picturesque mountain scenery, has been enriched by a new tourist attraction. The “Salamandra” open-air swimming pool complex is an investment that not only diversifies the town’s recreational offer, but also attracts new tourists and provides residents with a place for active recreation.
The complex consists of three pools adapted to the needs of different groups of users: a recreational pool with an area of more than 1,000 m² and a depth of up to 1.2 m – ideal for family swimming and water games, a sports pool (9 Ă— 16.5 m, depth 1 m) – designed for those who want to work on their fitness, a paddling pool for the youngest (9 Ă— 12.7 m, depth 0.6 m) – a safe place for children, with attractive forms of water recreation. An additional attraction is a water slide with a dynamometer, and the whole is surrounded by wooden piers and comfortable relaxation areas. The investment also included modern sanitary facilities, locker rooms, parking, a beach volleyball court and supporting infrastructure.
The construction of the complex was financed 85% from government funds (the Polish Deal program) and 15% from the municipal budget. The total cost of the investment was PLN 9.37 million. The official opening of the facility took place on August 7, 2025, and was met with great interest from both residents and tourists. The “Salamandra” complex significantly expands the recreational offer of the region. Thanks to it, ĹšwieradĂłw-ZdrĂłj is becoming an attractive destination not only for lovers of mountain hiking and winter sports, but also for families seeking summer relaxation by the water. In the future, it is also planned to expand the functionality of the facility beyond the summer season, the use of the facility in autumn is being considered, for example, by polo kayakers from Lesna.
The Lower Silesian Sports Center (DCS) on the Jakuszycka Glade, located about 20 km from Swieradow-Zdroj, is one of the largest and most advanced sports investments in Lower Silesia and all of Poland. The complex was officially opened on September 7, 2022 by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Voivodeship Marshal Cezary Przybylski. It includes more than 90 kilometers of cross-country ski trails (competitive and recreational), biathlon trails with a shooting range, a roller coaster, bicycle paths, a soccer field with an athletic track. In addition, the complex is equipped with a swimming pool, a spa center with saunas and a brine graduation tower, a gym, a gymnasium, a climbing wall, a hotel with about 200 beds (some of the rooms are equipped with hypoxia chambers), a wellness center and a winter sports museum, conference and catering facilities, and underground parking for more than 140 cars.
The facility is suitable for international events, including the World Cup.
The Jakuszycka Glade can be reached by train (direct connection), which increases the accessibility of the facility. Since March 24, 2025, the construction of a snowmaking system for cross-country ski trails on the Jakuszycka Glade is underway. This is a key step in making the infrastructure independent of weather conditions – the ski season will be able to start as early as November!
DCS is not only a training center for professionals, but also an activity space for tourists and locals.

The lzerSKI Resort has been inscribed into the existing terrain – the steep slope of Swieradowiec Mountain.
